Not a bad line up for 30 schillings. More after the jump live 90’s Hip-Hop

Maxwell live @ NJ Performing Arts Center

What’s up good people, our apologies for the lack of updates. We were putting the finishing touches on The Repositioning to get ready for you all.

But we’re back in business, speaking of which so is Maxwell. We had posted the video to his latest single a while back. It looks like he’s on a promo tour right now and will be in town at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on 22 July. He did a show not too long ago at the United Palace Theater in the Washington Heights that got great reviews. Sounds like a possible date night maneuver. I’m not telling you what to do, I’m just saying you got a good shot at some positive points with this one.

Anthony Hamilton & Musiq Soulchild Live @ The Garden

Wow I just go the info about this last night. Man there’s a good amount of upcoming concerts/shows going on this summer.

I’m not sure if I’ll make the John Legend show, but this right here is looking pretty good. Special guests include Chrisette Michele.

John Legend Live @ The Garden

John Legend will be performing live at Madison Square Garden on August 13 with special guest India.Aire. Should be a good look for date night during the summer.

Rock The Bells ’09 Line-up

The line up for this year’s Rock The Bells Tour has been posted on Guerilla Union’s site. I’ve read some rumblings about the line up not being as good as last year’s.

However, in all fairness it’s going to be hard as hell to top a line up that included De La Soul, Nas (with Jay-Z as a special guest), Red & Meth, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and all members of both The Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest among others.

Had Rakim shown up I doubt there would have been a better hip-hop concert to have gone to hands down, topping any Summer Jam.

Black Star Live @ The Nokia Theater

First Talib Kweli teamed up with Hi-Tek to perform as Reflection Eternal, and now he’s back with The Mighty Mos Def to perform as Black Star for two shows (7pm & 11pm) on May 30th at the The Nokia Theater. With these types of shows going on the Spring/Summer show season is shaping up to be a great one. Tickets are on sale, damn I have to Monday to mine.

Word on the street is that Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek are hard at work on a new project (yea!).

Besides that we have a treat for you, not sure if it will be on the album or not, but it’s good to hear them again. Plus there’s a guest appearance from Bootsy Collins.

ANNNNNNDDD if that’s not enough for you…

They’ll be performing at the Blue Note 10-11 March. Two shows a night at that.

Just a update to the post below:

There’s another show on the 19 March if you haven’t gotten you tix for the show on the 5th you might want to check for this one because the show on the 5th is sold out.

The Roots will performing live at the Highline Ballroom on 5 March. It’s a late show but it will be the first in a series of shows that they’ll be doing. There are special guests to show, don’t quite know who they are at the moment, but we’ll keep you posted though. Just wanted to give the drop to The Roots fans that we know.

I haven’t been to the tributes before but the regular karaoke event these folks put on are pretty fun and you don’t have to be drunk to enjoy them either.

Plus at 5 beans to get in with the opportunity to perform for free, it sounds like a good outing and it’s fully recession proof.

Raphael Saadiq will be in town next month on 21 March performing at Irving Plaza. The doors open at 8pm and the show is scheduled to start at 9pm. As far as I know the tickets are now available. I haven’t yet checked his show, but I got insight that it’s well worth the while. It also might not be a place to bring a lady friend…or meet one. Either way you’re going to see a good show.
